A toilet is simple device that in a lifetime is used on a daily basis. It is a fairly simple device with a few moving parts and several static element. The main problems you will have are leaks and non flushing. Below is how we diagnose and repair these faults.
The 2 most common problems are the cistern overflows or fails to deliver water to the pan when flushing. This is caused by the failure of the toilet Siphon in the toilet cistern.
The extent of the problem and ultimately the cost is dependent on the extent of damage to the toilet Siphon and the age/model of toilet Siphon. If the toilet Siphon allows you to change the diaphragm in the toilet Siphon then it is a fairly easy and a low price job.
If the toilet Siphon is a model where you have to change the unit then the cost of the toilet Siphon is around £20 but the labour used in replacing is longer than changing the toilet Siphon diaphragm.
The reason for this is due to removal of the toilet cistern to allow removal of the
toilet Siphon. At always plumbing we will always provide you with the most cost effective repair.
If the repair looks complicated we will sit down with you before we start and explain the pros and cons of the repair with a breakdown of the costs before we start, including and problems we might incur. After 30 years experience we don’t have many surprises.
In the job illustrated for a client in London Colney we only needed to replace the diaphragm and diaphragm washer.
